Abrams & Chronicle Books announces appointment of new Managing Director Brenda Marsh

The board of Abrams & Chronicle Books today announced that Brenda Marsh has been named Managing Director of A&CB, effective June 27, 2016.

Brenda’s extensive experience in both publishing and retail, most recently as VP, Director of Business Development at ABRAMS, where she oversaw the recently launched Noterie gift line, the calendar program and digital sales, make her an ideal candidate to lead the London based joint venture. Prior to joining ABRAMS in 2014, Brenda spent almost 15 years in executive roles at Barnes & Noble including: VP, Author Relations for their retail bookstores; VP, Merchandising; and VP, Content for barnesandnoble.com. Prior to her tenure at B&N, she was President of Sales and Market Development at Harper Collins, VP of Sales at Penguin USA and Sales Director at St. Martin’s Press. Brenda began her career as a Sales Representative for Columbia University Press.

“Brenda is a proven leader, an inspirational boss, and a superb mentor as well as a seasoned professional who is admired throughout the publishing industry,” said Michael Jacobs, President and CEO, ABRAMS. “We look forward to her leading our successful and growing UK based joint venture.”

“Brenda Marsh is a highly respected publishing executive,” said Jack Jensen, President, Chronicle Books. “Her wide experience, keen instincts and inspiring work ethic will help take the A&CB enterprise and its talented and hard-working team to new levels of success.”

Marsh will oversee a team of 18 sales and marketing professionals and an extensive sales team covering the UK and export markets. In addition to the ABRAMS and Chronicle lists, Abrams & Chronicle Books also distributes other fine illustrated publishers across the UK and international markets. She had this to say about her new appointment:

“I am honoured to have the opportunity to join the talented team at Abrams & Chronicle Books, and excited to work with the vibrant bookselling communities we serve, and which I've long admired from the USA.”
